CometSIM plans are prepaid data bundles. This page explains how your allowance is measured and what happens when it runs out, so there are no surprises while you are travelling.
Your allowance
Every plan lists a data allowance (for example 5 GB) and a validity period (for example 30 days). The validity period starts when the eSIM first connects to a network in the destination, not when you buy it.
When the data runs out
Data is not unlimited, and it is not slowed down to a lower speed. When the allowance is used up the connection simply stops. You can buy another plan at any time and install it the same way.
Speed
Your eSIM uses local partner networks and the fastest technology your phone and that network both support: 5G where it is available, otherwise 4G/LTE. Real-world speed depends on the local network, congestion and your location, exactly as it does with a local SIM.
Data only
Plans carry data only. They do not include a phone number, voice calls or SMS. Apps that call and message over data, such as WhatsApp, FaceTime, Telegram and Signal, work as usual.
Hotspot and tethering
Sharing your connection is allowed on most destinations and draws from the same allowance. A small number of local networks block tethering; where that happens it is a network restriction, not a CometSIM one.
Where the plan works
Each plan works only in the countries listed on its product page. A regional plan does not cover countries outside that region, and no plan covers your home country unless it is named in the coverage list.
Acceptable use
Plans are sold for personal travel use. Continuous machine-to-machine traffic, reselling the connection, permanent use in one place instead of a local subscription, and any unlawful activity are not permitted, and can lead to the connection being suspended without refund.
Refunds
An eSIM that has never been installed or activated can be refunded within 180 days of purchase. Once a plan has been installed and has started using data it cannot be refunded. The full terms are in our Refund Policy.
