Device Compatibility

Two things must be true before you buy: your phone must support eSIM, and it must be carrier-unlocked. Both take under a minute to check.

Check your own phone in 10 seconds

Do not trust any compatibility list, including ours — manufacturers ship the same model with and without eSIM depending on the country it was sold in. Your phone can answer the question itself.

Dial the code

Open the phone dialler and type *#06#. If an EID number appears alongside the IMEI, your phone has an eSIM chip. No EID means no eSIM.

If you can find an “Add eSIM” or “Download a SIM instead” option in the mobile settings, you are ready. The exact path is below.

Three things that stop an eSIM from working

The phone is locked to a carrier

A phone still tied to a contract usually refuses any other network, eSIM included. Ask your operator to unlock it before you travel — this is the most common reason an install fails.

The phone was bought in mainland China

iPhones sold in mainland China have no eSIM hardware at all, and some Hong Kong and Macau models are the same. The model name looks identical — only *#06# tells you the truth.

It is a regional variant without eSIM

Some Samsung and Pixel models shipped with eSIM in one country and without it in another, under the same name. Again: dial the code, look for the EID.
