Before you buy a travel eSIM, make sure your phone supports it and is carrier-unlocked. The good news: most phones from 2019 onward do. Here’s how to check in seconds.
The 10-second check
- iPhone: Settings → Mobile Service (Cellular) → if you see Add eSIM, you’re supported.
- Android: Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → look for Add eSIM. Or dial *#06# and check for an EID number.

- Samsung: Galaxy S20 and newer, Z Flip/Fold series, many Note models.
